Coronavirus & Long COVID Recovery & Rehab
We understand that recovering from Coronavirus (COVID-19), and ‘Long COVID’, for many patients is difficult both physically and psychologically. Therefore, we at Central Health Physiotherapy are proud to be part of The Wellington Hospital’s COVID-19 Medical Rehabilitation Programme.
What is it?
We aim to support patients who are continuing to suffer the after-effects of the condition, whether hospitalised by it or not. Our 1:1 outpatient rehabilitation service is delivered by specialist rehabilitation physiotherapists who will work with you to achieve your goals.
Who is it for?
The service is available to those who have had COVID-19 and continue to suffer with any of the below:
- Muscular de-conditioning.
- Reduced cardiovascular fitness.
- Muscle & joint pain or stiffness.
- Loss of balance.
- Loss or reduction in mobility.
- Difficulty with day to day activities.
What are the benefits?
What can I expect from sessions?
Amongst other conditions, we are aware many patients who have had COVID-19 are prone to developing pulmonary embolism, mental health complaints and lung fibrosis. As no post-COVID presentation is the same, our physiotherapists work as part of The Wellington Hospital’s multi-disciplinary team (MDT) to address the needs of each individual patient. The wider MDT consists of consultant physicians, clinical psychologists, rehabilitation nurses, dieticians, sleep therapists, renal specialists and occupational therapists.
The physiotherapy component of the post COVID-19 and ‘Long COVID’ rehabilitation service is available across all 3 of our sites.
