Discover why patients give us 5 stars!

What is performing arts physiotherapy?

Performing Arts Medicine is a subspecialty of occupational health for performing artists such as dancers, musicians, circus performers, singers, and actors. As a Performing Arts specialised Physiotherapist, we understand the demands that performing has on the body and the importance of getting you back on stage quickly.

How is it different to 'normal' physiotherapy?

Patients seeing the Performing Arts Medicine Specialist will be asked questions specifically about their art form such as technique, choreography, performance and practice schedule, and environmental factors such as costumes, footwear, stage condition, stool/chair type and height, props, and music stands. You may even be asked to bring in your instrument or videos of you performing to aid in the assessment. The treatment you receive will be individualised to you and your art, to get you back on stage as soon as possible!

Who can we help?

This service is tailored for stage performers and crew, TV/film crew and performers, stunt performers, choreographers, musicians, dancers, circus performers, and vocalists. We work closely with the British Association of Performing Arts Medicine (BAPAM) and Help Musicians.

What are the common types of injuries we deal with among performing artists?

In the Performing Arts population, some of the main conditions we see and treat are performance-related Repetitive Strain Injuries, posture-related pain, and acute injuries such as sprains, strains, and tears.

Why choose us for physiotherapy?

We pride ourselves on providing the very best 5 star service for our patients, with a 100% satisfaction guarantee!

I’m so glad I chose Central Health Physiotherapy! I’d been struggling with coccyx pain for a while, and after just a few sessions, I felt so much better. Chris Pinches really took the time to understand what was going on and created a treatment plan that worked for me. The pain is nearly gone now, and my mobility has improved. Super friendly, professional, and really good at what they do. Highly recommend if you’re dealing with any pain!

Chris Pinches is a fabulous physiotherapist whose advice and treatment has transformed my mobility. I have recently had knee revision and a knee replacement and my sessions with Chris have greatly aided my recovery. I would highly recommend him as a physiotherapist to anyone suffering from arthritis or injury,
