An exercise to be performed in the pool to help increase your heart rate, as well as improving your lower limb strength and control. This is a great exercise for those wishing to return to impact type exercises and running. It conditions the LL for impact and can be progressed by varying the depth of the water. The shallower the water, the harder the exercise. If you experience any pain or discomfort please discontinue .

Squats and lunges improve the knee’s stability, strength and flexibility, whilst the water reduces the impact on the joint. As the patient progresses, the physiotherapist will be able to instruct in more dynamic exercises, as demonstrated here.
