Bertie Dixon after the Paris marathon with his mumOur charity for March is the National Osteoporosis Society. Not only will we be donating £1 for each new patient that comes to our Chancery Lane clinic during the month, but we’re also supporting our friend Bertie Dixon who will be running the Virgin Money London Marathon for the charity on 13th April.

A few words from Bertie:

I’m running the London Marathon in April because it’s a great personal challenge, and I’m fundraising for the National Osteoporosis Society because Osteoporosis affects 1 in 5 men and 1 in 2 women, including my dear mum.

It causes a weakening of the bones which can be debilitating, but the good news is that one of the best ways of avoiding it is staying active when you are younger.

Paul King at Chancery Lane gave me a very comprehensive running “MOT”. We agreed a training regime that suits my schedule, and Paul also recommended some stretches to relieve the symptoms of my injury. We discussed what to eat during running [glucose] and what to drink after running [chocolate milk!]. On the treadmill in the gym, Paul did a video analysis of my running style and gave me tips on running more efficiently. Finally, we looked at exercises to improve my strength to improve my pace.

Everyone at CHP was friendly, professional and hugely knowledgeable. I left the clinic with a definite spring in my step!

CHP have very kindly nominated the National Osteoporosis Society as the charity of the month for April, so please look out for the information and donation tin!”
