Pilates
We offer Pilates classes run by experienced physiotherapists as well as one on one sessions run by a qualified Pilates Instructor.
For a healthier body that moves well you need a strong core. Pilates involves mental and physical training to develop the deeper central core muscles in the abdomen and back. It is very effective at dealing with muscle imbalances in the body, releasing muscles that are tight and strengthening those that are weak. The exercises are also used to treat specific problems, such as:
- Low back pain
- Neck and upper back stiffness and pain
- Knee and hip problems
- Tight hamstrings and calves
- Shoulder tightness

'I have been participating in Pilates at Central Health Physiotherapy for nine months. As a result my body has become both stronger and more flexible. The injury which brought me to Central Health Physiotherapy was in my right shoulder, and I really didn't expect this to benefit from Pilates. However, even my shoulders have become more relaxed and limber. In addition, I have found the training to be very relaxing. An hour of concentrating on the exercise is very mindful, which is great for managing workplace stress. The small classes allow for lots of individual attention, ensuring good technique is achieved. I thoroughly enjoy Pilates, have found it to be extremely beneficial, and look forward to it every week!'
