Every time I open a paper at the moment there is increasing excitement about the Olympic Games coming to London in 2012. There are 6.6 million tickets up for grabs to 645 sessions across 26 sports! We all have the opportunity to attend this fantastic event. However, we must register online and submit the application before 26th April. You therefore have just over three weeks to decide on the sport of your choice. You can take in track and field events at the Olympic Stadium, swimming, synchronised swimming and diving at the Aquatics Centre with water polo next door as well as handball, hockey and basketball, while other iconic locations such as Greenwich Park offer equestrian and modern pentathlon and Horse Guards Parade will be the site of beach volleyball. There is certainly something for everyone.
The last time we hosted the Olympics was in 1948, so it’s fair to say that after next year we won’t be seeing the Olympic Games back on these shores any time soon. So don’t miss this opportunity of a lifetime to see the world’s best athletes on our home ground.
Be inspired! Allow the excitement surrounding The Games to encourage you to start or continue exercising. All I would advise is if you are starting something new, make sure you are wearing/using the correct equipment and taking advice on progressive training schedules. If you need any sports/injury advice please feel free to contact us.
